!Friendica Support Does anyone ruin their friendica servers on a virtual machine, or is that a bad idea? I saw a video where they did it but they may have done that just for demo purposes.
@Anubis2814 generally it does not matter if you run something as a VM or on a physical machine. It has many upsides to run VMs, but depending on the config also some downsides.
Have always been running it on a VM (KVM on Linux) since 2011. Two years ago I switched to a the docker container (still running on a VM). The VM is currently sized at 4 CPUs / 4 GiB of RAM / 10 GiB disk space (Alpine Linux).

Als Antwort auf Anubis2814 • •@Anubis2814 that is up to you, to the system the host runs on. There is many solutions. Also plan ahead and consider if it is worth the effort.
I use qemu/KVM on some #linux, but there is surely better setups than mine.
